Hey! So Glad You're Here.

We are Kent and Joanie Hein. We celebrated our 52th wedding anniversary in May 2024. We have two wonderful daughters who are married to godly men and we have 5 beautiful grandchildren.

In 2011, following retirement from our careers, we began as Workampers at Avion Palms RV Resort in Bowling Green, FL. Our initial hope was to start a weekly Bible study in the resort during our off hours.  But God had other plans.

Having served in several churches over the years since we became aware of God’s calling on our lives, and having been mentored by excellent pastors as Kent’s career moved us to different locations; when the need arose for a pastor to minister at the Chapel under the Palms, Kent felt led to volunteer to preach should the need arise in a pulpit supply role.

A couple of weeks later the head of the chapel committee asked Kent if he would preach on December 4, 2011. He did so and was, then, asked to continue on a weekly basis. For 13 years, during the “snowbird” season, Kent was the pastor of the Chapel under the Palms and was ordained in 2016.

In 2024 Kent answered the call to be the year-round Pastor at the Country Roads Community Church in Country Roads RV Village in Yuma, AZ.

So, here in Yuma we continue to serve God according to His Sovereign plan.

Country Roads Community Church meets at 10AM every Sunday morning – November through March in the Ballroom and April through October in the Chapel in Country Roads RV Village.

Our Statement of Faith

The Bible
We believe the Bible is inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts of which we have reliable copies.  All Scripture, both the old and new testaments are God breathed (inspired) and written by chosen men moved along by the Holy Spirit using their backgrounds and personalities. The Bible is complete and there are no other God inspired writings apart from the Bible.  The Bible is not only true but Truth and is profitable and the ultimate source for faith and life.
Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone
(2nd Timothy 3:16,17 / 2nd Peter 1:21 / John 17:17)

God
We believe there is One True God, existing eternally in three Persons:  God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.  Each Person of the Triune Godhead is fully God and possesses all the attributes of God yet are subordinate in their roles.  The father plans and directs, the Son carries out the Father’s plan and the Holy Spirit completes the work directed by the Father and initiated by the Son.  God created the world out of nothing by speaking it into existence and through His Sovereign power he sustains and maintains His power and control over His creation in ways that are consistent with His character and ultimately for His glory.
(Gen 1:1 / Psalm 90:2 / Heb. 1:3 / Col 1:16-17 / Eph 4:4-6 / Deut. 6:4)

Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the second person of the Godhead.  He is both fully God and fully man in one person yet both retaining their distinctive characteristics.  His human nature never existed apart from His divine nature.  The union of His human nature and divine nature took place at His miraculous conception and virgin birth (incarnation).  Remaining what He was, He became what He was not.  All this was a necessary part of God’s redemptive plan for fallen man.  He took our place on the cross in order to satisfy the penalty of sin and bear the judgement of God  - the just for the unjust.  On the third day following His cruel death, He arose from the dead signifying victory over death and God’s satisfaction that the sin debt had been paid.  He is alive today seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for His people and at the appointed time will return just as He departed to assemble His Church.
(John 1:1-14 /6:38 / Col. 2:9 / Heb. 2:16-17 / 2 Cor.5:21) / Acts 1:11)
Solus Christus – Christ alone

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune Godhead.  He gives new life and permanently indwells every believer at the point of Salvation.  He convicts us of our sin; causes sinners to recognize their need of the Savior; completes the work directed by the Father and initiated by the Son; imparts wisdom; and equips the saints for service to God.
(John 14:16-17,26 / John 16:5-15 / John 15:26 / Acts 1:8 / 1 Cor.3:16 / Romans 8:9,11)

The Church
We believe the church is an assembly of God’s children for all time.  It is both local and universal and is an instrument of God’s Kingdom under the authority and shepherding of the Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ.  Believers are commanded to assemble together for the purposes of worshiping God, with the accurate reading, preaching and teaching of God’s Word as the cornerstone; nurturing fellow believers; observing the ordinances of The Lord’s Supper and Baptism; and equipping the saints for the evangelization of the lost.
(Eph 1:22-23 / 4:12-16 / Col.3:15-17 / Deut 4:10 / Matt. 28:19)

Church Ordinances
We believe there are two church ordinances instituted by Jesus Christ.  They are the Lord’s Supper and Baptism.  The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus at His last Passover meal with His disciples and therefore is an ordinance only for those who know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  When we, as believers, gather to celebrate the Lord’s Supper we come into His presence:
•    To remember and proclaim His sacrificial death on our behalf.
•    To affirm His love for us
•    To affirm our faith in Him
•    To examine ourselves and our walk with Christ
•    To receive spiritual nourishment from our participation in receiving the bread and the cup symbolic of His body and blood.
•    To participate in and enjoy the benefits of the unity of believers
•    To look forward to eternal fellowship with Him upon His return.
(Matt.26:26-29 / 1Cor.11:23-29 / 10:17 / John 6:48-51)

Baptism is the second ordinance of the church.  It is the public act of confessing Christ as our Savior.  An outward symbol of our inward cleansing and union with Christ and therefore should be an act of obedience experienced only by those who have placed their faith in Christ as Savior.  We believe baptism by immersion is the New Testament model symbolizing the believers union with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.  Death to the believers old way of life and risen to walk in newness of life.
(Matt. 28:19 / Mark 1:4-5 / Romans 6:3-4 / Acts 2:41 / 8:12, 35-38)

Sin
We believe that the Bible teaches that sin is any failure to conform to or obey the moral law of God in our actions, attitudes, thoughts, and speech resulting in death and separation from God.  Sin is lawlessness and is in direct opposition to the character of God.  Sin seeks to change our view of what is True, what is Right and who I am in the eyes of God.  All mankind has an inheritance of a sin nature and the associated guilt as a result of Adam’s sin.  We are all conceived in sin and by nature, children of wrath and cannot redeem ourselves.
(Romans 3:23 / 5:12-19 / 6:23 / Psalm 51:1-5 / 58:3 / Jeremiah 17:9 / Eph. 2:3)

Heaven and Hell
We believe that both heaven and hell are literal places as described in Scripture.  Although God is omnipresent, Scripture describes Heaven as the dwelling place of God and Jesus Christ seated at His right hand.  It is also the abode of redeemed saints and angelic beings all involved in the glorious activity of worshiping God.
(Matt 6:9-10 / John 14:2 / Acts 1:11 / 7:55-56)

Scripture describes Hell as a place without rest from eternal torment and separation from God for those who through unbelief have rejected Christ as Savior.  Hell is the eternal dwelling place of the wicked and from which there is no escape.
(Matt. 25:30,41,46 / Mark 9:43,48 / Luke 16:22-24 / Rev. 20:10)

Salvation
We believe salvation is the outworking of God’s predetermined plan to eternally redeem those whom He has chosen before the foundation of the world and has effectively called through the power of His Gospel message and the working of the Holy Spirit.  It is a calling out of darkness into His light / from eternal death to eternal life – a summons from the King of the universe and entirely and completely a gift of His Grace.  Salvation is by Grace alone through Faith alone. The Gospel is the good news of the power of God for Salvation for those who believe made possible by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
(Eph 1:3-14 / 2:8-9 / Romans 1:16 / 5:8 / 8:28-30 / 1 Pet. 2:9 / John 6:37-40, 44 / Acts 4:12 / 13:48 / 16:14)
Sola Gratia – Grace alone
Sola Fide – Faith alone

Christ’s Return
We believe in the sudden, visible, personal and premillennial return of Jesus Christ.  He will return as King and Judge and will appear in the same way as He ascended after His resurrection.  Following His millennial reign on earth He will establish a New Heaven and a New Earth where believers will worship and have fellowship with the Lord forever and ever.  No human description is adequate to describe the Glory of the Lord yet to come.  Believers should live expectantly, with a commitment to personal growth, Christian service and evangelism.
(Matt. 24:44 / 25:13 / Acts 1:11 / 17:30-31 / 1 Thess. 4:16 / 2 Pet. 3:13 / Rev.20:11-15 / 21:)
